In these recent years, the calendar of children’s fashion and childcare trade fairs in Europe has changed a lot… Some are gone, and others have even been cancelled before they were born.
For example, as we informed you at the end of April, the first edition of Kid’s Wear Berlin has been cancelled before its release, following the same destiny as the last try of the children’s fashion segment of Bread & Butter in Berlin.
Nowadays, the fairs calendar of children’s fashion in Europe has a clear epicentre: Pitti Bimbo in Florence – Italy, which hardly leaves little space for a few events of local influence. Pitti Bimbo is the largest event in the sector. In its January edition, the fair brought together 510 collections and received 8,000 buyers, one third of them were international.
Playtime Paris, with 400 exhibitors and 6,700 visitors, is almost the only event that overshadows the competition in Florence. To fill the gap in the Netherlands and Northern Europe, Kleine Fabriek in Amsterdam was launched in 2005. And in 2006 Bubble London in Great Britain was created, and replaced Premier Kids which used to take place in Birmingham. In Germany, no major event for children’s fashion professionals but, for the childcare industry, Kind + Jugend in Cologne, remains the main trade fair in Europe. In Spain, in Valencia, Fimi is the most established and experienced event but a new one, Little Barcelona, which held its first edition last January, proposes an alternative solution to them who look for innovative and original.
